The Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of police has arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir.
He was arrested from Vanderpara area in Dumuria upazila, Khulna on Thursday, according to a press release sent out by the ATU on Friday.
The suspect’s name is Humayun Kabir, 23.
According to the press statement, A team of ATU conducted raid in Vanderpara based on a tip-off, and arrested Humayun.
They also recovered a mobile phone, two SIM cards, five jihadi books and an NID card.
ATU says Humayun is an active member of Hizb ut-Tahrir and is accused in two cases filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act as well as the Digital Security Act with Gulshan police station in Dhaka.
The ATU has petitioned the court to place Humayun on a 10-day remand for questioning.
