At least 8 more people died with symptoms similar to those of Covid-19 in three districts, yesterday.
In Comilla, six people suffering from cough, cold, and fever died undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of Comilla Medical College Hospital.
Among the dead, five were identified as Jamal Uddin,53, of Manoharganj upazila, Abdul Karim,75, of Brahmanpara upazila and Abdul Kader,60, from Sadar upazila in Comilla district. Two women, Nazma Rahman,50, from Shahrasti upazila of Chandpur, and Lutfunnesa,62, from Musksudpur upazila in Gopalganj, also passed away.
"Three died in the isolation ward, and the others died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)." said Dr Sajeda Khatun, Assistant Director of Comilla Medical College Hospital .
116 patients are currently undergoing treatment in the isolation ward of Comilla Medical College Hospital, according to the hospital authorities.
In Gopalganj, a 65-year-old man suffering from fever and shortness of breath died hours after he was admitted to Tungipara Upazila Health Complex.
Kazil Alamgir of Keralkopa village, was brought to the hospital at around 8:30am, having suffered from fever and shortness of breath for seven to eight days, said Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Yar Ali Munshi.
In Chittagong, a senior lawyer of the Chittagong Judges Court died from fever and breathing problems at General Hospital.
Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, 70, member of the district Ainjibi Samity, also suffering from neuro problems, was undergoing treatment at Agrabad Maa o Shishu Hospital, said his brother-in-law Khursedul Alam.
Later, he was shifted to the General Hospital and taken to its Intensive Care Unit as his condition deteriorated. He died there around 11:45pm.
Khursedul said samples were taken from his brother-in-law for corona testing 10 days ago, but they were yet to receive the report.
