Farmer shot dead by BSF at Chapainawabganj border

BSF denied the claims

Border Security Force (BSF) of India shot a farmer while he was chopping grass near Telkupi border of Chapainawabganj.

The deceased was identified as Jahangir, 45, of Lombapara area in Telkupi. The  incident took place at 9am Saturday.

Commander of BGB 59 Leut Col Mahmudul Hasan confirmed the matter.

Mofazzal Hossain, member of ward number 7 under Shahbajpur union informed that, Jahangir had gone to cut grass at the Telkupi border on the Bangladesh side on Saturday.

He said: “BSF members of Gopalnagar shot him at 9am, killing him on the spot. The deceased’s family and locals then recovered the dead body.”

Commander of BGB 59 Leut Col Mahmudul Hasan said: “We have come to know about the incident. BSF has denied the matter when asked about it. 

“However, we have sent the BGB company commander to the area to inspect the incident. We will strongly protest against this incident to BSF after proper investigation.”
