Golam Rasul, a retired staff of Kushtia General Hospital and a resident of East Majampur in Kushtia municipality, was caught off-guard when police came to his house to put it under lockdown as he had reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.
This was very surprising to Rasul because he did not provide his sample for a coronavirus test as he had no symptoms.
According to local administration sources, Golam Rasul’s name was on the list of Covid-19 patients provided by the authorities at Kushtia Medical College.
Rasul said he did not have fever, cold or cough but he went to the hospital to provide his samples suspecting that he might have been infected as he often visited local markets. But he returned without giving any samples due to long queues.
Nurunnahar Begum, superintendent at Kushtia General Hospital, said someone instead of Rasul might have provided the samples.
The health authorities are looking for the person who provided samples instead of Rasul as many more may become infected by the person who tested positive for Covid-19, she added.
