A college-going girl filed complaint against a police personnel who refused to marry her despite allegedly having sexual relationship with her in Thakurgaon.
The accused is Ripon Singh, a police constable hailing from Yakubpur village of Thakurgaon's Sadar upazila.
Through the written complaint filed to Dinajpur superintendent of police on Thursday, the girl also accused Ripon of asking a dowry of Tk15 lakh for marriage.
Confirming, Madhushudhan Dutt, an official at the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in Dinajpur, said an investigation will be conducted to determine the accuracy of the complaint. "PBI inspector Abdus Sabur is in-charge of the investigation," he added.
The accused constable made contact with the girl through phone five years ago, reads the complaint.
On November 3 of June 2017, they shared intimate moments in a Dinajpur hotel promising marriage to each other and did the same twice after, according to the complaint filed.
When the girl talked of marriage, Ripon demanded Tk15 lakh as dowry which her family was unable to pay, the complaint also read.
In the complaint, she also claimed that Ripon sought dowry from another girl, whom he has been trying to marry.
Despite repeated attempts, Constable Ripon Singh's phone could not be reached for a comment.
