The officer-in-charge of Sadar police station in Khulna has been withdrawn over the death of Dr Abdur Rakib Khan.

An order was issued on Sunday morning over the withdrawal of OC Aslam Bahar Bulbul, reports our correspondent.

“We closed OC Bulbul at the police station and attached him to the Reserve Office. The OC of Harintana police station, Ashraf Hossain will take charge of the Sadar police station as soon as possible,” said Sheikh Moniruzzaman Mithu, deputy commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police.

Earlier on Thursday, medical professionals under Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) in Khulna gave a 72-hour ultimatum to authorities concerned demanding the withdrawal of Sadar police station's OC Bulbul and prompt arrest of all responsible for the death of Dr Abdur Rakib Khan.

The doctors demanded the withdrawal of OC Aslam Bahar Bulbul because he delayed the recording of the murder case and filed it at least 36 hours after the death of Rakib, said Dr Sheikh Baharul Alam, president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) of Khulna district unit.
