3 wards of Keshabpur municipality in Jessore waterlogged

The residents urged the authorities to take initiatives to resolve the problem in this regard

Three wards of Keshabpur municipality in Jessore have been waterlogged due to the incessant rainfall of the last few days, causing sufferings to their residents.

Many houses and several roads of 1, 5 and 7 wards in the municipality had gone under knee deep water, which has disrupted the daily lives of many people, said the locals.

The residents urged the authorities to take initiatives to resolve the problem in this regard.

Abdus Sattar, councillor of 7 no ward, said: "In my ward, 30 houses and several roads have gone under water."

Ayub Khan, a resident of 7 no ward, said around 10 to 15 houses were waterlogged which was causing suffering to the residents.

Speaking on the issue, executive engineer of Water Development Board (Keshabpur office) Munshi Asad Ullah said: "To solve the waterlogging problem, a dredging project is going on in the Harihar River beside Keshabpur municipality. The problem will be solved as soon as the project is completed."
