Covid-19: Door-to-door medicine delivery service opens in Chittagong

Amid the surging novel coronavirus cases and fatalities, an initiative has been taken up to provide the essential medicines to the people’s doorsteps in Chittagong city.

Citizens can avail the opportunity by making a phone call to a hotline to have the necessary medicines delivered to them on 15% commission.

SM Mehedi Hasan, deputy commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) formally inaugurated the services on Tuesday.

“The humanitarian initiative has been undertaken to ease the sufferings of the people while procuring essential medicines amid the coronavirus situation. Hopefully, the initiative will put an end to the anarchy of the unscrupulous drug traders,” said the police official.  

BM Riders, a volunteer organization is implementing the initiative called “Amar Pharmacy” under the supervision of Kotwali police station of CMP.

Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station said 20 full-time volunteers would take prescribed drugs to people’s doorstep.

“Anyone can seek the service by calling the hotline number +8801870700700 and having prescriptions from a registered physician is a must for availing of the service,” said the OC.
