BSF picks up Bangladeshi man at Kurigram border

Hazrat Ali and 20 other cattle traders were trying to intrude into Indian territory and were pushed back by India’s security force

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has picked up a Bangladeshi cattle trader from Goytapara border area under Rowmari upazila in Kurigram.

The detainee, Hazrat Ali, a resident of Showlmari union of the upazila, was picked up from around the International Demarcation Pillar No. 1060 in the early hours of Monday by BSF Jhalurchar camp, local sources said.

“Hazrat Ali and 20 other cattle traders were trying to intrude into Indian territory but were pushed back by the  Indian security force. While the others were able to return to Bangladesh, Hazrat was arrested,” said BGB-35 Battalion Director Lt Colonel SM Azad.

“We were informed by BSF sources that he was later handed over to Mankachar police station. We will soon arrange a flag meeting to bail him out,” added the officer.
