A man was reportedly stabbed to death over gambling in Kaliakair of Gazipur.
The incident took place inside the Hosef factory near Chandra Palli Bidyut Samity on early Friday.
The deceased Abdul Mannan Akand, hailing from Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur, resided in a rented house with his family members at Kathaltola area of Kaliakair.
Kaliakair police station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Hossain Majumdar confirmed the news.
Alamgir said Mannan was playing cards with some of his friends inside Hosef factory near Chandra Chandra Palli Bidyut Samity on Thursday night. On early Friday, a quarrel ensued among the gamblers and one of the gamblers stabbed Mannan causing his death on the spot.
Subsequently, the gamblers tried to throw the dead body on the Dhaka-Tangail highway. However, they fled the scene when the locals spotted them.
Police detained three people- Saiful, Tanu and Abdul Rab- for interrogation. "A case will be filed in this regard." added the OC.
