11 die with Covid-19 symptoms in Kushtia within two months

Heath authorities only collected samples from one of the deceased for Covid-19 testing

At least 11 people, nine men and two women, reportedly died with symptoms similar to those of coronavirus in Kushtia in a span of just two months.

The patients, suffering from Covid-19 symptoms like fever, cough, cold and chest pain, died between March 30 to May 29.

Among the deceased, one is from Sadar upazila, three from Kumarkhali, two from Daulatpur, three from Bheramara, and the rest from Mirpur upazila.

The district's health authorities only collected samples from one of the deceased for Covid-19 testing, which revealed that the person died from coronavirus.

Regarding the matter, Kushtia Civil Surgeon HM Anwarul Islam said health authorities do not take the coronavirus symptoms for deaths into its consideration. 

"Moreover, family members bury dead bodies before the health authorities reach the scenes." he added.

Meanwhile. Kushtia has so far confirmed 210 Covid-19 cases including one death until Thursday.

Besides, Bangladesh has reported 3,471new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of confirmed cases to 81,523. And 46 more patients had died from the virus during the same period, raising the death toll to 1,095.
