The Superintendent of Pabna Police Sheikh Rafiqul Islam has tested positive for Covid-19, the disease caused by a new coronavirus strain that has so far killed over 1000 people in Bangladesh
Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police Gautam Kumar Biswas confirmed the matter on Friday.
Gautam said when some cops in Pabna were recently detected as corona positive, the police super provided his sample. His report came back positive on Friday.
"He is now in home isolation and doing well," he added.
Until Friday, Pabna has so far reported 177 Covid-19 cases including 4 deaths.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh has reported 3,471new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the number of confirmed cases to 81,523. And 46 more patients died from the virus during the same period, raising the death toll to 1,095.
