A suspected pirate has been killed in a reported gunfight with police in Veduria Ferighat area of Sadar upazila in Bhola.
The incident took place early Tuesday, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was identified as Shafiqul Islam Shafi, 40, of Kalipur village in the area.
Police made a drive to the area with Shafi--who was arrested a few days back-- to recover illegal arms which he had stored in the area, said Sadar Model police station OC Enayet Hossain.

Mohammad Kayser, superintendent of Bhola police, said, Shafi had long been terrorising the fishermen of the area and he was also accused in several murder, robbery, drugs and theft cases.
“A few of our policemen were also injured in the gunfight,” added the SP.
