7 injured in gas cylinder explosion in Ashulia

A portion of the building collapsed after the blast

Seven people including women and children have suffered burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded at a residential building in Ashulia.

The incident took place at the two storey house of Atikur Rahman at Rangamatia of Kathgora area in Ashulia at around 5:30am Tuesday.

At the time of the blast, a fire broke out and a portion of the building collapsed.

Upon receiving information, the Fire Service went to the scene and doused the fire after an hour of trying.

They rescued the injured who were trapped under the rubble.

The injured were admitted to the Sheikh Hasina Burn Unit at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

The injured are tenants of the house Liton, 32, Shanta, 25, Imran, 5, Azizul, 7, Ripon, 26, Salma, 30, and Sohel, 27.

Fire Service Warehouse Inspector Zihad Miah confirmed the matter.

Among the injured two are in critical condition, he said.

However, he could not provide any information on whether the house was built with a valid permit or not.
