Two political activists were suspended from their posts over their involvement in shooting at an on-duty postmaster in Tangail's Kalihati upazila.
Suspension letters have been served on Monirul Islam Shojib, relief affairs secretary of Kalihati upazila Jubo League, and Tanjidul Islam Jisan, a member of the convener committee of the district unit Chhatra League.
Joint convener of Tangail district Chhatra League Himel confirmed the matter on Monday.
Himal said: "We have sent a letter to the central unit of the Chhatra League seeking the expulsion of Jisan. The Chhatra League won't bear responsibility for an individual's crime."
The Detective Branch of police arrested Jisan after a case was filed against unknown assailants over the shooting incident at Kalihati police station.
During preliminary interrogation, Jisan named the suspended Jubo League leader Shojib as the mastermind behind the snatching attempt.
On May 17, three assailants riding a motorbike fired two bullets at Mujibur Rahman, postmaster of Bolla sub-post office in Bolla of Kalihati upazila.
They snatched Tk50 lakh from his possession while he was transporting the money.
One of the bullets hit Mujibur on the leg and another missed him. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.
