Worker dies of burns at BSRM factory

Four critically injured workers are now undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH)

A worker died while four others sustained critical burn injuries at a factory of BSRM in Chittagong.

They were working with the melted iron ore when the accident took place at Jorarganj factory at around 3:55pm on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Md Quasem, said Mofiz Uddin Bhuiyan, Officer-in-Charge of Jorarganj police station.

Critically injured, four workers of the factory are now undergoing treatment at the Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

According to the police, the workers received injuries when molten iron fell on them.

Dr Rafiq Uddin Ahmed, head of Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit, CMCH told the Dhaka Tribune that four workers were undergoing treatment at the burn unit of the hospital.

“All the four workers sustained critical injuries as their respiratory organs were badly damaged. They received 60-100 percent burn injuries,” Dr Rafiq added.
