A suspected activist of banned militant outfit Ansar-al-Islam has been detained in Pabna, says the local unit of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

Abdullah Akash was arrested from the district town’s BSCIC area on Saturday, said Superintendent Muhammed Mohiuddin Faruqe of the RAB-2.

Bomb-making materials, jihadist literature and mobile phones have been found on the suspect during the arrest, according to the senior RAB officer.

A case has been lodged with police in Munshiganj, following which the suspect was produced in a court, when investigators sought seven days custody for interrogation.
