Former secretary M Bazlul Karim Chowdhury has died from the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) on Sunday.
The 61-year-old man passed away at Mugda General Hospital in Dhaka around 11:30am, said in a condolence message issued by M Shahidul Islam, deputy commissioner of Tangail.
Shahidul expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Bazlul Karim. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Bazlul Karim had served as deputy commissioner of Tangail from 2009 to 2012. He worked as RAJUK chairman and Dhaka divisional commissioner.
Bazlul's wife Nazmoon Naher Lipy, who was infected with coronavirus, is undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
