Police on Saturday arrested a primary school teacher in a case filed for raping a fourth grader from Enayetpur in Chauhali upazila of Sirajganj.
The arrested, identified as Nuruzzaman, is the assistant teacher of Majhgram Government Primary School in Enayetpur, said Enayetpur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Molla Masud.
According to the case statement, the accused Nuruzzaman raped the girl six months ago inside the school and threatened the girl not to disclose the matter.
Frightened, the girl did not disclose the matter to her parents.
However, noticing physical changes, the victim's mother went to Bismillah Modern Hospital to have her daughter examined on May 27. Later, doctors at the hospital confirmed the child was pregnant.
Subsequently, the parents filed a case against Nuruzzaman under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act with Enayetpur police station on Saturday.
Regarding the matter, Officer-in-Charge Molla Masud said: "Nuruzzaman was sent to jail following a court order on Saturday evening."
