Rescue workers have recovered four more bodies on Thursday after a boat capsized in the Jamuna River in Chauhali upazila of Sirajganj on Tuesday afternoon, raising the death toll to nine.
Meanwhile, seven more people still remain missing following the incident.
Chauhali Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Dewan Moudud Ahmed, Chauhali police station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Rashedul Islam Biswas and Enayetpur police station OC told reporters the bodies were found floating on the river on Thursday afternoon.
Later, locals recovered the bodies from the river and brought it ashore.
One of the dead bodies was identified as Alok Mia, 30, hailing from Gobinhara village of Shingrail in Manikganj.
On Tuesday, the engine-run boat sank near Sathalchar area with 73 passengers on board while going to Chauhali from Enayetpur at around 1:30pm.
Since Thursday morning, divers from the Fire Service and Civil Defence have been working for the second day to recover other victims of the mishap.
Till now, all nine dead bodies and 57 survivors of the boat capsize were recovered by the locals of the area.
Sirajganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Faruk Ahmed has already directed UNOs of Chauhali and Belkuchi upazila to provide Tk25,000 each as compensation for the deceased.
