Workers of Khalishpur Jute Mill in Khulna have decided to strike until they receive a full festival bonus for Eid-ul-Fitr and five weeks’ due wages for when they were on furlough as previously announced by the Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC).

The workers will continue to strike until Eid-ul-Fitr and say their Eid prayers out on the streets unless their demands are met, said Sheikh Md Ibrahim general secretary of Khalishpur Jute Mill's CBA.

The announcement came after an emergency meeting between CBA and non-CBA members of Khalishpur Jute Mill at 8:30pm on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, after receiving news that they will not receive a full festival bonus, workers of the jute mill halted production and began protesting by chanting slogans and burning tyres at BIDC road from morning till the evening.
