Star witness in Sayedee war crimes trial dies

The prime witness, who testified against Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee in a war crimes case, died on Thursday.

Halim Babul, 55, died of brain stroke at his home in Nolbunia village of Indurkani upazila in Pirojpur around 12:01am, said his brother Salam Bahadur, who is also the finance secretary of Jatiya Party.

Babul had returned home after being treated at Khulna sadar hospital with brain hemorrhage, his brother said.

After a namaz-e-janaza, Babul was laid to rest at the family graveyard on Friday morning.
