Islami Oikya Jote (IOJ) leaders said showcasing idols in public places will not be accepted in Bangladesh.
They made the statement on Sunday at a press conference in Dhaka’s Press Club.
“The Quran can be the only symbol of justice. Not any idol,” they said.
The idol in front of the Supreme Court must be removed from the its premise, they added.
They also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina agreed on the matter and said she does not like the idol. Now the party wants to see the implementation of PM’s statement.
They also declared to go on strong movements like hartal if their demand is not fulfilled.
Among others, IOJ Chairman Abdul Latif Nezami, IOJ Secretary General Mufty Fayzullah, and Senior Vice-Chairman Abul Hasanat Amini were present at the conference.
