Police arrested a village doctor for reportedly attempting to rape a second-grader-- who went to his chamber for treatment-- in Kunjaban village of Kotalipara upazila, Tangail.
The accused, Solaiman Shah, 50, was a medical practitioner of the village and when the child along with her mother went to his chamber for treating her allergies on Saturday afternoon, he attempted to rape the child, police say.
According to the child’s mother, she took her daughter and left her there with Solaiman’s supervision for an hour. He eventually lured my child behind his chamber with a bar of chocolate and tried to rape her, said the mother.
“When my child came back crying to me revealing the incident, I with my neighbours went to his chambers where the locals beat him up and handed him over to the police,” she explained while wishing to file a case against him soon.
Kotalipara Police OC Sheikh Lutfar Rahman said: “We arrested the culprit. As soon as the case gets filed we will take legal actions against him.”
