People deprived of relief staged demonstration in front of the deputy commissioner's office in Jhalakathi district on Friday afternoon.
People during the protest said they haven't received any relief support from the government or any private organizations.
A number of them alleged that Jhalakathi municipality councillors have not been distributing relief products adequately to the needy and instead mostly distributing the relief to people they know.
Protesters also alleged councillors intervened at the protest and threatened to sent them to jail.
Councillor Torun Karmakar, also joint general secretary of district unit Awami League, Sharmin Choudhury Keka, coordinating secretary of the district council and municipality councillor Hafiz Al Mahmud assured the protesters of providing relief to the deprived families gradually. The protest was called off soon in the afternoon.
