The Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested a man for defaming Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on social media from Ukilpara in the town of Bhola, on Thursday.
The arrested was identified as Mobarok Alom Tanjil, said Shahidul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhola DB Police.
Shahidul Islam said a case has been filed against Mobarok under the Digital Security Act.
According to the police, on Thursday morning, Mobarok was fined Tk 2,000 by a mobile court in the town when he failed to show his driving license and other documents for his motorcycle.
Later, the accused wrote defamatory words about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and district administration on his Facebook account.
