Natore records first death from coronavirus

The local administration has put Singra municipality area, Nazipur in Gurudaspur upazila, and Agadia and Tebaria areas in Sadar upazila under lockdown

A 65-year-old man who died on April 21,  was found positive for coronavirus, making it the first death from the deadly virus in Natore.

The deceased man, Nur Mohammad, 65, was a resident of Singra’s Hajipara area and died while undergoing treatment at the Singra Upazila Health Complex, confirmed Dr Mizanur Rahman, civil surgeon of the district.

“We sent his samples to Rajshahi and later to Dhaka. As the report came in on Wednesday, it is the first death from the virus in Natore,” said Aminul Islam, health officer of the hospital.

Meanwhile, seven more people, including two health workers of Singra Health Complex, were found infected with coronavirus in the district.

Civil Surgeon Dr Kazi Mizanur Rahman revealed the information on Tuesday night, saying a dead person and two health workers of Singa Health Complex were among those diagnosed with coronavirus.

 The local administration has put Singra municipality area, Nazipur in Gurudaspur upazila, and Agadia and Tebaria areas in Sadar upazila under lockdown to prevent the transmission of coronavirus from the infected people.
