Youth held for raping 9-year-old in Habiganj

Police have arrested a youth for raping the minor daughter of a tea garden worker in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj. According to police sources, Laden Robi Dash, 20, son of Sombhu Robi Dash from Atghar area near Brindaban Tea Estate, raped the nine-year-old daughter of a worker on Thursday night. The victim's mother said Laden intercepted her daughter at an isolated place of the tea estate around 9:30pm when she was returning home from a relative's house in Atghar area. The youth ran away as the locals rushed there hearing her screaming. The girl was taken to Habiganj Sadar Hospital immediately in critical condition. Police detained the accused around 1am Friday and were interrogating him at Bahubal police station, Officer-in-Charge Moniruzzaman told the Dhaka Tribune.
