A case has been filed over the reported brutal murder of a woman and her three children in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur.
The case was filed with Sreepur police station on Friday, confirmed the police station's Officer-in-Charge Liakat Ali.
Liakat said Abul Hossain, the deceased woman’s father-in-law had filed the case, accusing unnamed people around 1am on Friday. "Police are trying to unearth the reasons behind the killings.”
Earlier, on Thursday, police had recovered throat slit bodies of four members of a family from a two-storey building in Jaina Bazar area of Telihati union under Sreepur upazila.
The deceased were identified as Fatema Begum, 40, her two daughters Nura, 16, Haurin, 11 and her mentally challenged son Fadil, 7.
Fatema's brother-in-law Arif said that Fatema called him up and asked him to do grocery shopping for her on Wednesday.
"When I failed to make them open the door for me after repeated attempts, I climbed up through the window and found the throat slit bodies of the four," said Arif.
