Police recovered throat slit bodies of four members of a family from a house in Gazipur's Sreepur.

The incident took place supposedly early morning Thursday at a second storied building of Jaina Bazar area of Telihati union of the upazila.

The deceased are Fatema Begum, 40, wife of a Malaysia expatriate, her two daughters Nura, 16, Haurin, 11 and her mentally challenged son Fadil, 7, family sources confirmed.

Brother-in-law of the deceased, Arif said, Fatema called him up and asked him to do grocery shopping for her on Wednesday.

"When I failed to make them open the door for me after repeated attempts till Thursday afternoon around 4:30 pm, I climbed up through the window and found the throat slit bodies of the four," said Arif.

Tarek Hasan Bacchu, member of the Telihati Union Parishad said: "The incident might have taken place after midnight. It is surprising that the neighbours did not hear any screams of the brutal murders."

Sreepur police OC Liakat Ali said they found nude bodies of the mother and two daughters and recovered a knife and hatchet beside them. Four of them were killed in the same room.

"Multiple killers can be involved in the homicide. We sent the bodies for autopsy and an investigation is ongoing," said Liakat.

The reason behind the homicide is unknown, added the OC.
