Sixty-two brick kiln workers, who returned from Keraniganj to Nageshwari on April 14, have been released before the completion of their 14-day quarantine period allegedly at the directive of the upazila nirbahi officer (UNO).
The workers were released after eight days on Wednesday afternoon as per the directive of Nageshwari UNO Nur Ahmed Masum, said Kachakata Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Awal.
He said: “Most of the workers were fleeing from the quarantine and it became difficult to monitor all of them. So they were all released after a discussion with the UNO.”
Nageshwari Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Abu Bakkar Siddique said none of the workers were suffering from fever, cough, or cold, reports UNB.
Regardless, the workers were asked to stay in home quarantine for the next six days, added Chairman Abdul Awal.
