A patient, suffering from fever, cold and headache, has escaped from the isolation unit of a state-run hospital in Bogra.

The incident was reported on Sunday from the northern district’s Dhunat upazila, according to UNB.

Garment worker Shanta Khatun, a resident of the upazila’s Kalerpara union, had been showing symptoms since she returned from Dhaka a week ago, said Dr Nurul Amin of the Dhunat Upazila Health Complex.

She was admitted on Friday, but fled from the isolation ward before the authorities could collect samples for test, said the hospital’s deputy assistant medical officer.

The incident has been reported to the local police.

Dhunat police OC Kripa Sindu told UNB they were trying to trace the patient initially by sending a team to her address.
