A five-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a local teenage boy in Dudumari of Sadar upazila in Panchagarh.
Police arrested the 13-year-old rape accused after the girl’s father filed a case with Sadar police station following the incident on Tuesday night.
Panchagarh Sadar police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Abu Akkas Ahmed, quoting the case statement, said the teenage boy lured the girl to a nearby canal and raped her there.
Hearing the girl’s screams, her mother rushed to the spot while the boy managed to flee, he said.
The girl was sent to Sadar Hospital for the medical test, OC said.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Kamrul Hasan sent the minor to Jessore Juvenile Correction Centre, after recording his confessional statement under Section 22 on Wednesday.
