Two killed in Bogra road accidents

Tk63,000 fined for defying quarantine regulations: Mobile courts fined 95 people a total of Tk63,250 for not maintaining social distancing in Bagerhat, confirmed Additional District Magistrate Md Shahinuzzaman. Law enforcers have been operating check posts at various places of the district and not allowing vehicles other than, ambulance, cargo vehicles containing essential commodities, and those engaged in coronavirus (Covid-19) prevention activities.

Two killed in Bogra road accidents: Two people were killed in separate road accidents in Sadar upazila and Sherpur upazila yesterday. The deceased were Babu Miya, 30, and Md Sirap, 25. Five people including Babu were injured in a head-on collision between two motorbikes at Ghoga bridge area of Sherpur upazila. Babu died on the way to hospital, confirmed Sherpur Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Ratan Hossain. Sirap was crossing the road at Bhaberbazar area in Sadar upazila when a truck ran over him and killed him on the spot.

Girl commits suicide in Feni: A 19-year-old honours student committed suicide reportedly because of a dispute she had with her mother in Feni Sadar upazila. Khodeja Begum’s family discovered her body hanging from the bathroom shower at their residence yesterday morning. Feni model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain said being informed, they recovered the body and sent it for autopsy at Feni 250-Bed District Sadar Hospital.

BGB detains drug dealer in Benapole: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a man with 87 bottles of phensedyl from Sadipur area near the Benapole border of Jessore. The detained Sagar Hossain, 23, was handed over to Benapole Port police station yesterday and a case was filed against him in this regard, confirmed Subedar Abdul Wahab, commanding officer of Benapole ICP camp.  He said acting on a tip-off BGB conducted a drive and had arrested him on Friday.

BSF ‘finds’ man dead near Jhenaidah border: India’s Border Security Force (BSF) claims to have found a man dead in Shaymkur border area in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah, said BGB sources. The deceased is Amir Hossain, 25. His uncle, Union Paishad member Khandakar Abdul Karim, said his nephew went to bring cattle inside the Indian border with seven to eight other people on Monday. A BSF patrol him detected them and Amir was caught while the rest managed to escape. BGB 54 battalion Commanding Officer Lt Col Kamrul Hasan said they are uncertain about the nationality of the deceased.

Man arrested while trying to supply drugs to inmate: Police arrested a man after he was caught trying to supply drugs to a prison inmate undergoing treatment at the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Police arrested Jahed, with two pieces of yaba tablets, a bottle of phensedyl and a bottle of liquor. Sylhet Kotwali police station OC Selim Miah said a case was filed against Jahed yesterday. Jahed went to supply the drugs to Pijush Kanti Dey president of Sylhet district Swechchhasebak League.

Tractor driver loses control, dies after it overturns in Jamalpur: A man was killed yesterday after a tractor hauling soil laden trolly overturned at Masterpara village in Dewangonj upazila. The deceased Kabir Ahmed, 37, was severely injured after the vehicle he was driving overturned on Friday afternoon. He died while he was being transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital from a local hospital in Kurigram on Saturday, confirmed Dungdhara Union Parishad Chairman Shah Md Masud.
