A woman frantically carrying her critically injured daughter in her arms arrived at the front steps of Ashuganj police station on Thursday night, desperately seeking help for her nine-year-old girl who was just raped.
“The girl was playing at a rice mill in Sonarumpur village on Thursday afternoon, when a friend of her brother, lured her away to an isolated field and raped her there,” said Brahmanbaria Additional Superintendent of Police (Ashuganj-Sarail circle) Masud Rana, quoting the girl’s mother.
Being informed, the girl’s mother found her daughter in critical condition and carried her to the police station in tears, he added.
Police immediately sent the girl to Brahmanbaria General Hospital and detained the rape suspect Liton Miah, 25, later that night.
The child has lost a lot of blood and she is in a very critical condition. If her condition deteriorates further she would have to be shifted to Dhaka, said Abdullah Al Mamun, an on-duty doctor at the emergency unit of the hospital.
15-year-old girl, 60-year-old woman raped
A 15-year-old girl and a 60-year-old woman were reportedly raped in Gazipur and Chuadanga.
In Gazipur, a teenage girl was reportedly gang-raped and force-fed toxic substance by her so-called boyfriend and his accomplices.
The incident took place in Kamarjuri under Gacha police station in the municipality Tuesday night.
The girl’s father on Wednesday filed a case against the alleged boyfriend Rasel Hossain, 25, and his five accomplices for attempting to kill his daughter after gang-raping her.
According to the case statement, on Tuesday night, Rasel called the girl out to an isolated place and raped her in-turns with his friends. Later, he tried to kill her by forcing her to ingest Savlon (antiseptic liquid). But, failing to kill her, they left her abandoned in front of her home and fled the scene.
Family members, discovering her unconscious and critically injured, immediately rescued her to the Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital.
Gacha police station OC Ismail Hossain said: “Rasel has been raping the girl for quite a while with false promises of marriage. The girl’s father has filed a case in this regard and so we are trying to arrest the accused.”
In Chuadanga, an elderly woman was reportedly raped by a neighbour in Damurhuda upazila.
Police arrested the rape suspect Jahangir Ali, 45, from the city Thursday night, said Damurhuda police station OC Abdul Khaleq. "He will be sent to Chuadanga Court Prison on Saturday."
The 60-year-old woman filed a case against Jahangir on Thursday afternoon, saying, her neighbour Jahangir, finding her alone, broke into her home and raped her on Wednesday.
60-year-old man arrested for raping child
A 60-year-old man was arrested for repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl at Gaidghat of Bagharpara upazila in Jessore.
“Jafar Ali Molla, kin to the child, had been raping her for the past four months,” said Officer-in-Charge of Bagharpara police station Syed Al Mamun.
The matter came to light when he tried to rape the girl again on April 4.
Police arrested Jafar from his house at Gaidghat after the victim’s father filed a case at Bagharpara Police Station on Thursday.
The girl was sent to the Sadar Hospital for medical tests, he added.
