10 houses locked down after youth dies from fever, cough in Joypurhat

A total of five people are in isolation while 79 others were put in home quarantine in the district

Local administration put 10 houses under lockdown after the death of a young man showing ‘flu-like symptoms’ in Khetlal upazila of Joypurhat on Thursday.

Joypurhat Civil Surgeon Dr Selim Mia said the 21-year-old, who used to work at a food factory in Bogra, had been suffering from fever and cold for the last eight days.

The owner of the factory sent him home on Wednesday night and the youth died around 12pm while being taken to a hospital on Thursday, Dr Selim said.

Sample from his body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital while ten houses in the area were put under lockdown after the death, he added.

A total of five people are in isolation while 79 others were put in home quarantine in the district as of Thursday.

Bangladesh reported another death from coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 112 new cases, raising the number to 330 in Bangladesh.

The global death toll from coronavirus reached 89,416 as of Thursday.
