Rise in patients with flu-like symptoms in Chittagong

Chittagong Civil Surgeon's office has requested all private healthcare facilities in the district to open flu corners and keep them operational round the clock

The number of patients suffering from flu-like symptoms is on the rise in Chittagong, according to the district civil surgeon's office.

According to sources, 5,104 women, 3,186 men and 996 children received treatment in 524 community clinics in 14 upazilas of the district on Wednesday.

Of them, 1,881 persons had flu, cough, breathing problems or pneumonia symptoms.

A total of 250 samples have been tested at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID) till Wednesday and only two persons have tested positive for Covid-19, said Chittagong Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.

Currently, eight patients are receiving treatment at the isolation ward of BITID and Chittagong General Hospital. As of Wednesday, 98 people were in home-quarantine in Chittagong.

Meanwhile, aiming to ensure treatment of the people amid the coronavirus situation, the Chittagong Civil Surgeon's office has requested all private healthcare facilities in the district to open flu corners and keep them operational round the clock.
