The Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) arrived around 11:50am in the morning and began digging around the houses.
From 12pm to 5pm, the BDU recovered two suicide vests, four bombs, 30 bomb circuits, 20 sticks of dynamite, 186 PVC stick switches, and four drums of chemicals used to make explosives.
Khulna RAB Commanding Officer Rafiqul Islam called off the operation around 6pm due to poor visibility. Commander Rafiqul said the operation will resume again on Wednesday morning.Law enforcement agencies cordoned off two suspected militant hideouts just half a kilometre away from the RAB camp in Chuadanga village of Jhenaidah district around 10am on Tuesday.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 6 Jhenaidah Commander Major Monir Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune: “We anticipating that militants are hiding inside these two dens.”
One of the houses is owned by Selim, 35, younger brother of Tuhin – a militant killed in a police raid on May 7. The other house is owned by Tuhin’s cousin Pranto, 17. Both are residents of Chuadanga village.
Selim and Pranto were detained around 1pm by a joint team of police and RAB. The two then revealed three more locations of interest to the law enforcement agencies.
