Man detained for producing counterfeit sanitizers: RAB 11 detained a factory owner for producing counterfeit hand sanitizers in Rupganj upazila in Narayanganj on Friday. Tipped-off, RAB conducted a drive and detained Jamal Miya, 54 and seized 1,500 litres of alcohol, 1,800 bottles of the counterfeit sanitizers and 1,250 pieces of fake brand labels, confirmed ASP Md Jashim Uddin Choudhury.

UP chairman on the run over assault on journo: A union parishad chairman accused of assaulting three journalists in Habiganj is currently on the run. According to a case filed against 10 people on Friday, Aushkandi UP Chairman Muhibur Rahman Harun and his men assaulted journalist Shah Sultan Ahmed on Wednesday following online vlog about irregularities in the distribution of relief goods among the needy. When journalists M Mujibur Rahman and Bulbul Ahmed came to his aid they too were assaulted.

Teenager commits suicide in Jamalpur: A teenage boy committed suicide in Bhabanipur village of Sarishabari upazila on Friday. The deceased Nazmul Hasan, 15, was a tenth-grader. Nazmul’s family found his body hanging inside his room on Friday morning. Police recovered the body upon information and sent it for an autopsy. Sarishabari police station OC Joharul Islam Khan said the reason of his suicide could not be known immediately and an unnatural death case will be filed in connection with the incident.

Man killed over fishing in the Meghna River: A man was killed in a brawl that broke out with another fisherman in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj on Friday. The deceased is Indrajit Das, 35. Gajaria police station OC Iqbal Hossain said Indrajit and Pintu Das got into an argument over a fishing spot near Charbalki area in the Meghna River. Pintu hit Indrajit on the back of his head with an oar, causing Indrajit to fall overboard. Police later recovered his body. Police detained Pintu and a case will be filed in this connection, added the OC.

Man hacked to death in Gopalganj: A former army personnel was hacked to death by his cousin over establishing supremacy in Sajail union of Kashiani upazila on Thursday. The deceased is Anichur Rahman Litu Sardar, 50. Police arrested four people and a case was being filed in connection with the murder. Kashiani police station SI Firoz Ahmed said Anichur and his cousin Md Sardar had a long-standing dispute between them. Both of them had 10 to 12 cases filed against each other. Supporters of Sardar attacked Anichur and his friend while they were returning to their home in Haridaspur village.

Woman dies seven days after attempting suicide in Tangail: A woman passed away in a Savar hospital on Thursday after she attempted suicide seven days ago in Pashchimpara village of Delduar upazila. The deceased Suma Begum, 23, hanged herself from a ceiling fan on March 26. Delduar police station OC Saidul Haque Bhuiyan said an unnatural death case was filed. The victim’s family said Suma was married six years ago. Her husband went to Saudi Arab a year after the marriage and never returned.

Jubo League man dies in clash: A man died after being severely injured in a clash during a local arbitration in Nolerchar area of Hatia upazila, in Noakhali Thursday afternoon. The deceased Mahbubur Rahman, 32, was the organizing secretary of Chanandi union unit Awami Jubo League, confirmed Hatia police station OC Abul Khayer. Mahbubur was injured when he tried to solve a dispute between two groups of locals.
