Police have arrested the man who assaulted a local journalist Sagor Chowdhury and filmed the incident which went viral on social media in Borhanuddin upazila of Bhola.
The accused Nabil Haider, president of upazila unit Awami League, was arrested from his residence on Wednesday. Subsequently, he has been produced before the district court.
Borhanuddin police station OC Enamul Hoque said Sagor Chowdhury, editor and publisher of an online news portal, filed the case around 2am early Wednesday against Nabil Haider and five other unidentified individuals.
A video which went viral on Tuesday, showed Nabil assaulting Sagor while accusing him of stealing his mobile phone in front of a local cinema hall.
