A gang of unidentified miscreants vandalized four idols of the Santahar housing colony estate Durga temple in Adamdighi upazila

Four arrested for impersonating law enforcers in Comilla: Four people including a woman were arrested for extortion while impersonating as law enforcers in Chandina upazila on Saturday. The arrested Moni, 29, claimed to be executive magistrate of a mobile court, and the others, Liton, 42, Rahman Ali, 35, and Faruk, 36, claimed to be officials of Detective Branch of police. The con-artists parked their microbus in front of a grocery store and demanded Tk1,00,000 to the storekeeper for keeping his shop open amid the government imposed restriction. Locals caught them in the act and handed them over to police station where a case was lodged.

Woman burnt to death in Pirojpur: A woman was burnt to death while she was sleeping inside a house of Bhandaria municipality in Pirojpur early Saturday. The deceased Mahfuza Akhter, 40, is a teacher of a local kindergarten school. Bhandaria Fire Service Station Officer Md Faruk said an electric short circuit might have caused the fire. The fire was doused by a firefighting unit in a two-hour long effort. However, no other family members–residing in a separate floor of the two-storey wooden house–were injured.

Man stabbed to death in Sylhet: An auto-rickshaw driver was stabbed to death in Rainagar area of Sylhet city on Saturday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Shahin Ahmed, 25. The reason of the murder could not be known immediately and police are yet to apprehend the culprits, said Sylhet Kotwali police station OC Selim Miya. After the incident, Shahin was rushed to a nearby hospital were the duty-doctor declared him dead, said Ariful Islam, a friend of the deceased.

Ten injured in Tangail clash: At least ten people were injured in a clash between two rival groups over land ownership in Kalihati upazila. The clash took place in Haripur village of the municipality area on Saturday afternoon. All of the injured are currently undergoing treatment at Tangail General Hospital. Kalihati police station OC Hasan Al Mamun said a long-standing dispute has been ongoing between Abdul Halim Talukdar and his neighbour Shukkur Mahmud over land ownership. Previously both parties lodged cases to solve the dispute.

Man dies, family claims murder: A man was reportedly murdered at a student’s hostel in Latifpur Maddhyapara area in Shahjahanpur upazila in Bogra on Saturday. The victim Nur Alam Sarkar, was a member of Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League. He was taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital by some indentified individuals when the doctors at the hospital declared him dead. About the murder claim by the victim’s family, Shahjahanpur police station OC Azim Uddin said Nur Alam might have died overdosing on alcohol and details could be known after an autopsy.

Chanchal Kumar Kundu, president of the temple said: "Miscreants vandalized four idols in early Saturday. Police were trying to arrest culprits, said, Adamdighi police station OC Jalal Uddin.

Child found dead in Naogaon: Police recovered the body of a six-year-old child from Sardarpara village in Sadar upazila on Saturday. The deceased was Sumaiya Akhtar. Naogaon Sadar police station OC(Investigation ) Foisal Bin Ahasan said: "Police primarily suspect the child was strangled to death . The child's mother Tamanna Parvin is on the run and a case was filed."
