Four killed as college gate collapses in Sirajganj

Locals blame the flawed design and construction methods to be behind the fatal accident occurring Tuesday afternoon

At least four people have been killed and five others injured in the collapse of an under-construction gate of Captain Shaheed M Mansur Ali Degree College in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj.

The deceased were Tozammel Haque, 56, Asif, 16, and Rashidul Islam, 27. The other deceased could not be identified immediately. 

The deceased were all cattle traders, who were sat below the under-construction college gate, during the weekly cattle market in Talam union, confirmed Tarash police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahbubul Alam.

The injured were taken to Tarash Upazila Health Complex and other local hospitals.

Tarash Upazila Nirbahi Officer Iffat Jahan and Sirajganj 3 MP Abdul Aziz visited the site and said the authorities would form a committee to investigate the accident.
