Mother, daughter commit suicide under train

A woman and her three-year-old physically challenged daughter committed suicide by jumping under a running train in Sadar upazila on Saturday. The deceased are Shyamoli Basak, 23, wife of Pradip Kumar of Baroawlia village in Atwari upazila, and Pabitra Sen Maya. Shyamoli threw her daughter under the Panchagarh-bound Uttara Train at Bakultola point between Panchagarh and Nayaniburuj Rail Station around 12:15pm and jumped under the wheels after few seconds, according to eyewitnesses. They died on the spot. The woman left her husband two years ago and returned to her parents’ house. She also filed a case with Panchagarh court against her husband. Shyamoli’s father Arun Basak said that she had been struggling with her physically-challenged child.
