A Panchagarh court sent 46 miners to jail in a case filed over the assault on police, obstruction of governmental administration, and vandalism in Tetulia upazila.
Panchagarh District and Sessions Judge Md Sharif Hossain Haider passed the verdict on Sunday after granting bail to four among the 50 accused.
All of the case accused were on interim bail previously granted by the High Court.
On January 26, local stone-miners formed a human-chain demanding authorization from the ministry of power, energy and mineral resources to extract stone in Bhojonpur under Tetulia upazila.
At one stage, when police attempted to disperse the crowd, a clash broke out, killing one of the workers and injuring a number of police and RAB personnel.
The following day, Sub-Inspector Shahdat Hossain filed a case with Tetulia Model police station in this regard.
