270,000 yaba seized in 3 districts

In Cox's Bazar, Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested four yaba dealers with 70,000 yaba pills from Kanjarpara village in Teknaf upazila on Friday

Over 270,000 yaba pills were recovered during separate drives in Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Tangail districts on Friday.

In Chittagong, Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard, in a drive, recovered around 200,000 yaba pills from a boat at ghat no 5 near Karnaphuli river on Friday.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lt M Hayat Ibne Siddique said: "Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a raid and recovered the yaba pills from the area early on Friday. We handed the yaba pills over to Patenga police station and no one was detained during the raid."

In Cox's Bazar, Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested four yaba dealers with 70,000 yaba pills from Kanjarpara village in Teknaf upazila on Friday.

The detainees identified as Meshbah Uddin, Mizanur Rahman, Iman Hossain and Mostofa Kamal were from the upazila, said Md Asrafuzzaman, in charge of Cox's Bazar Detective Branch (DB) of Police.

Asrafuzzaman said: "On a tip-off, we detained the yaba dealers with the illegal items from the area around 4am, while other six drug dealers  managed to flee the scene." 

He also added a case was filed under the Narcotics Control Act against the four drug dealers with Teknaf police station.

In Tangail, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a yaba dealer along with 195 yaba pills from Gopod Bazar area in Madhupur upazila on Friday.

The detainee  identified as Faruk Haider Ramzan was from Ayushnara village of the Upazila, said RAB-12 CPC-3 Company Commander Abul Kashem.

Abul Kashem said: "On a tip-off, we detained Faruk along with the yaba from the area. He has been selling yaba in the area for some time now."
