Medical test of 2 Jaintapur rape victims complete

Medical examination of the two Jaintapur rape victims has been completed. The medical examination of the two victims was done at the One-Stop Crisis Centre (OCC) of MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Saturday. The rapist, Nimar Ahmed, 24, son of Abdul Khaleque of Lamadela village in Jaintapur, gave his confessional statement before a Sylhet court on Friday, admitting that he had started exploiting a neighbouring woman four years ago. After two years he trapped her daughter into establishing physical relations with him, according to the confession. Nimar had also confessed to spreading videos of his sexual exploitation on the internet and among locals. Police arrested the rapist from his house on Wednesday night. A memory card containing 10 relevant video contents was found in his possession.

The arrest was made after a case was filed against him by the victim girl's brother under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act 2000 and the Pornography Control Act 2012 the same day. Meanwhile, Jaintapur police station Officer-in-Charge Shafiul Kabir told the Dhaka Tribune that after the spread of the video, the husband of the rape victim woman had enunciated a talaq (verbal divorce under Islamic law) on her on May 3. The victim is staying with her father's family after that. Darbast Union Parishad Member Jalal Uddin said the girl had been staying with her rickshaw-puller father at Lamadela village.
