12 Rohingyas held in Mongla port

They will be sent to the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar

Police has detained 12 Rohingyas including nine children from Bagerhat.

They were held from Digraj area of Mongla port early Thursday.

The detained are Md Jabed, 32, Nur Begum, 30, Fatema, 33, Reshmi, 12, Yasin, 8, Kallol, 6, Yasmin, 2, Soumin, 13, Yasmin, 11, Rashid, 8, Shafiq, 4, and Roksana, 3.

Among the children, four of them are Md Jabed and Nur Begum's children and rest of them are Jabed's sister Fatema's.

They will be sent to Rohingya camp through Bagerhat District Administration, police sources said.

Mongla police station Sub Inspector (SI) MdMizanurRahman said: "All of them were begging on the streets when locals noticed their different accent and informed the police."

One of the detained, Jabed said they came from Myanmar through India's Kolkata. They wanted to go to Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar and came to Mongla as they heard it is easier going there from Mongla.
