Police recovered the body of a cattle trader from a wheat field in Thakurgaon's Ranisankail upazila on Sunday

BSF releases detained fishermen in Sylhet: Two fishermen, who were held for three hours by members of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) from Chhobria border in Zakiganj upazila, were released around 3pm on Sunday. The two men, Hossain and Redwan, were fishing in the Kushiara River near the border, when BSF took them into custody, said locals. Lt Col Rafiqul Islam, commanding officer of BGB-41 battalion said the two fishermen were brought back after the company commanders of BGB and BSF battalion had a conversation.

Cattle trader found dead: Police recovered the body of a cattle trader from a wheat field in Thakurgaon's Ranisankail upazila on Sunday. The deceased Taiyeb Ali went missing on Saturday evening and when his blood soaked clothes were found on the field, locals informed the police. Later police recovered the hacked body of the trader and sent it to a hospital for autopsy, said Ranisankail police OC Abdul Mannan. "We are making a drive to arrest the perpetrators behind the murder," he added.

Man stabbed to death: Police on Sunday arrested two people named Sagor and Hasan in connection with a murder in Paschim Chanpur of Comilla. The deceased, Shariful Islam Jony, was allegedly involved in drug trading with three of the accused, Sagor, Hasan and Rajib, who stabbed Jony to death early on Sunday morning, said Additional Superintendent of Police Abdullah Al Mamun.

Man held for impersonating BGB: Border Guard Bangladesh arrested a man for impersonation as a BGB member and trying to cross the border in Hili, Dinajpur. The arrestee Firoze Miah, 29, showed a fake identity card to the check-post official and tried to cross over to India. Being suspicious, BGB arrested him and handed him over to Hakimpur police station, said Hili Camp Commander Nayeb Subedar Tabibur Rahman.

Fire burns shops in Noakhali: 15 shops were gutted by a fire that broke out in Noarhat market of Noakhali Sadar upazila early on Sunday. Locals said the fire started from an oil shop that spread quickly and ravaged the other shops. Two units of the fire service were able to douse the fire with the help of locals after a couple of hours, said  Station Officer Azizul Hoque of Maizdi Fire Service Station. Traders claimed that they had suffered a loss of around Tk1 crore.

Two fined for defying building construction plan: Narayanganj mobile court fined two building owners on Sunday for defying construction regulations of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartipakkha (Rajuk). Rubel, who owns a 11-storey building, was fined Tk 7 lakh, and the ground floor of his building was demolished. The under construction building of Ajit Saha was demolished and he was fined Tk 3 lakh, confirmed Toufiqur Rahman, authorized officer of Rajuk zone-8.

Photography exhibition begins in Narail: Narail Photographic Society has been holding a three-day long “National Photography Competition and Exhibition-2020” at the Sultan Mancha on the premises of Narail Government Victoria College. As many as 107 pictures from 48 districts will be on display from 10am-9pm at the exhibition until today. Sources from the competition said 70 photographers had submitted 530 pictures in six categories, from which nine will be awarded. Najmul Hasan Liza, general secretary of the photographic organization, said they would like to arrange the competition at an international level in future.
