Update : 16 Feb 2020, 11:23 AM

Ferry services along the Shimulia-Kathalbari route in the Padma River resumed after being suspended for more than nine hours due to navigation difficulties amid heavy fog.

Plying of all water vessels was halted since 2am on Sunday, to avoid accidents while navigating in the river amid dense fog.

As a result, four ferries, which already left their respective terminals carrying passengers, have been anchored at various points in the Padma river, causing sufferings to many passengers.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC Mawa unit Deputy Assistant Manager (Business) Prafulla Chandra said: "Movement of 12 ferries is still completely suspended. Therefore, around 350 small or heavy vehicles are still stuck at the Shimulia terminal, waiting to cross the river."
