7 killed in road accidents

The accidents occurred on Saturday morning.

At least seven people were killed in road accidents on Saturday.

In Gazipur, separate road accidents claimed the lives of four people, whose identities could not be identified as of writing this report. 

A 22-year-old man died when he was ran over by a bus on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Gilaberaid in Sreepur upazila. Meanwhile, a 72-year-old man was run over and killed by a pickup truck at Joinabazar while he was crossing the highway in the upazila, confirmed Mawa Highway police OC Manjurul Haque.

A bus driver and his assistant were killed as their vehicle lost control and rammed into a covered-van at the Rajendrapur area of Gazipur municipality.

Gazipur Metropolitan Sadar police station OC Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan said 10 others were also injured in the accident.

Meanwhile, Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Khondoker Mostafizur Rahman was injured on his way to participate a special senate session at National University as his SUV crushed into a road divider in Rajendrapur intersection of Gazipur metropolis, said Joydebpur police OC Jabedul Islam.

In Gopalganj, a man died when a bus fell into a roadside ditch near Dignagar bus stand of Muksudpur upazila on the Dhaka-Barisal highway around 7:30am.

The deceased Alim Mollah, 65, was a passenger on the bus, said Faridpur's Bhanga Highway police station OC Ataur Rahman adding that 10 others were also injured.

In Jamalpur, two construction workers—Atiur Rahman, 35, and Sikandar Ali, 45—were run over and killed by separate trucks in Sadar upazila, said Jamalpur police OC Md Salemuzzaman.
